DATA SCIENCE RESEARCHER , Sloan School of Management , to work on a project that is part of a broader initiative to understand and manage risk associated with intentional adulteration of food supply chains in China and possibly other countries, with a focus on economically motivated adulteration (EMA). Will lead the development of automated ETL data pipelines designed to prep messy data from multiple sources for analysis/modeling; work with and manipulate highly unstructured text data using basic NLP techniques; assist in the development and implementation of data models (regression, machine learning, neural net, etc.); supervise a team of program developers, delegating tasks, and leading the development/technical decision making; report on the progress of the data team; and manage and maintain the numerous databases and support the project team with additional data analysis as needed. Job Requirements REQUIRED : at least two years' programming/scripting experience related to data ETL; excellent oral and written communication skills (English and Chinese preferred); ability to work independently and as a team member; solid knowledge of at least one higher-level programming language, e.g., Python, R, Ruby, or similar; working knowledge of SQL; and experience developing and working with REST APIs; experience working with unstructured text data, web scraping using Selenium and WebDriver automation software, version control software such as Git or SVN, and developing data models (regression, machine learning, neural net, etc.). Interest in food safety and security issues a plus. Data visualization skills (ggplot2, matplotlib, D3.js, etc.), experience working with non-English data sets, and experience with one lower-level programming language (e.g., C or C++) and shell scripting preferred.
