Position Summary: A postdoctoral position is available in the labs of Drs. Sampath, Storch, Quadro, and Dixon. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a publication record consistent with career level, and an interest in understanding regulation of cell function by lipids and other nutrients. Expertise in the use of transgenic mouse models and/or mammalian cell culture, and proficiency in oral and written English are required. Also preferred is a background in biochemistry/molecular biology. Salary will be commensurate with experience, and follow NIH and Rutgers guidelines. The position is based in the Sampath lab, an energetic research group housed in a brand new, state-of-the-art building in New Brunswick, NJ. As a postdoctoral associate, the candidate would have multiple opportunities to interact with members of the Institute for Food Nutrition and Health, the Departments of Nutritional Sciences and Food Sciences, the Rutgers Center for Lipid Research, and the Center for Nutrition, Microbiome, and Health. The campus is also in close proximity to the cultural and scientific offerings of both NYC and Philadelphia. This is a grant-funded position and reappointment is contingent upon continuing need for the position, satisfactory performance and availability of funding. Minimum Education and Experience: Candidate must have a PhD degree in relevant area of science, such as Nutritional Science, Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology, is required. Also required are strong communication skills, a publication record consistent with career level, and a strong background in cell and molecular biology, as well as physiology. Proficiency in oral and written English is required. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Requires specialized knowledge in the use of transgenic mouse models and mammalian cell culture. Also required is a background in biochemistry/molecular biology with technical knowledge in basic biochemical techniques, including IHC/IF, EMSA, siRNA, protein and nucleic acid chemistry, lipid extractions and analyses. Equipment Utilized: Will use all of the typical laboratory equipment for biochemical, cellular and molecular biology experiments. Will use Excel spreadsheets, Word processing software, and graphing and statistical analysis software.
