The Food Processing Center has extensive equipment that can be used to produce samples, develop, scale-up, and test product formulas and food ingredients. The pilot plant provides these services to UNL and to external clients.
You will:
Be responsible for production of food products for UNL and for FPC clients, ensuring all parts of the process are up to standards for quality and food safety.
Set production schedules, manage inventory and supplies, ensure the plant is clean and safely operating, and will collect data on the entire process.
Consult with clients to meet their needs and ensure their satisfaction throughout the production process.
Supervise, train, and develop a team of student workers, helping them to build skills in the food manufacturing industry.
This position shares responsibility for the operation of the plant and how it functions.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in food science and technology or related field plus one year of experience in operation of food processing equipment. Basic understanding of food science including food chemistry, food microbiology, and good manufacturing practices (GMPs). Basic data collection, summary, and report writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
One year experience in operation of extrusion equipment.
