Compensation Overview of the Position:
Full-time, Regular, Teamsters Union Job Classification
Starting wage: $22.02/hr
40 hours a week, 9-months per year
Schedule is based on business needs and may include evenings and weekends as necessary to accommodate catering event schedules
Monday through Wednesday, 10:30 am to 7 pm
Thursday and Friday, 3 pm to 11:30 pm

UMD Dining Services provides diverse and high-quality dining options across campus, including Superior Dining, our all-you-care-to-eat residential dining center, and a Food Court with five unique conceptsâ”Subs & Wraps, Burgers, Pizza, Burritos, and Grab & Go. We also operate Northern Shores Coffee Shop, two dining kiosks, and a full-service restaurant, along with catering services for campus events. Dining Services focuses on providing diverse food options, sustainability efforts, and quality service to the campus community.
Job Duties:
Responsible for team oversight of set up, delivery, and execution of service
Operate a variety of equipment used in preparation, delivery, service of hot and cold foods and beverages
Organize and direct the team to meet standards and deadlines efficiently
Provide excellent customer service by maintaining a professional, friendly and service oriented demeanor
Operate the POS system and comply with cash handling policies
Prepare items, set up, tear down, and clean up each meal period
Complete any cashier related reporting â—‹ Maintain cleanliness and organization of workplace and service areas
Put away food and supplies
Complete daily, weekly and monthly cleaning as assigned
Maintain timeliness of tasks concurrent with operation schedules and needs
Compliance & Safety:
Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards to ensure the highest level of cleanliness and food quality
Monitor and ensure proper use and maintenance of kitchen equipment

Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required
At least 2 years of relevant experience or education in customer service or food service
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the assignment
Ability to interact in a public setting in a respectful and professional manner
Cashier experience preferred but not required
Preferred Skills:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 4 hours)
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
Experience in supervising or leading teams is a plus
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to make independent decisions regarding food quality and preparation
Demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively manage a team and work collaboratively with others
