Join us at the International Dairy Deli Bakery Association (IDDBA) for a one-of-a-kind internship experience assisting the companies that manufacture, transport, and sell your favorite foods through creating educational resources and experiences.
The IDDBA is a nonprofit trade association that serves food retailers, manufacturers, wholesalers, brokers, distributors, and other industry professionals. With a membership exceeding 1,100 companies ranging from small independents to major corporations, the IDDBA plays a crucial role in enhancing the economic position of its members through professional dialogue, education, industry data exchange, and selling opportunities. The association produces industry trend reports, conducts original research, and offers training programs covering various aspects such as marketing, merchandising, management, operations, food safety, and customer service. Our annual tradeshow has nearly 10,000 attendees, many drawn to the IDDBA’s What’s in Store Live – a showcase style mock dairy, deli, and bakery departments showcasing the latest trends and innovative products.
Position
The Education and Industry Relations Intern will report directly to the Vice President of Education and Industry Relations and work within the Education and Industry Relations Department. The internship will run from June 9th to August 15th, with interns working from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, including a half-hour break, on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
EssentialDutiesandResponsibilities:
Organize creative assets for branding and program refresh initiatives.
Assist in the publication of our "What’s in Store Live Recap" and "What’s in Store" publication by organizing assets, proofreading, and setting up meetings with potential collaborators.
Schedule meetings with companies to discuss membership, "What’s in Store Live" sponsorship, and collaboration opportunities.
Create contact lists of innovative automation and technology companies in the food industry.
Support marketing efforts for IDDBA’s Certified Salumiere Professional Exam.
Contacting colleges to participate in career exploration through IDDBA programs.
Conduct research on various food safety and other industry topics to contribute to the development of educational resources.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the VP of Education and Industry Relations.
Schedule
The internship spans 10 weeks, running from June 9th to August 15th. However, the start and end dates of the internship are flexible for the ideal candidate. The Education and Industry Relations Intern is expected to be present on-site Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, with a commitment of 24 hours per week.
Requirements
Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a degree program, with a preference for completion of at least 60 credits.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with team members and external partners.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products for efficient task management and communication. Familiarity with Adobe suite of products is preferred.
Demonstrated ability in time management, task prioritization, and organizational capabilities.
Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team environment to achieve project goals.
