Performs administrative, supervisory, and professional work in operation and maintenance of swimming pools, spray pads and Liberty Lagoon Water Park and coordination of various aquatics programs.
Essential Functions and Duties:
Disseminates positive and informative responses to public inquiries regarding programs, facilities, policies, procedures and staff complaints.
Oversees and coordinates the day to day operation including but not limited to: recruitment, training, scheduling, certification, and performance of employees.
Facilitates program information development and transmission, meeting deadlines and brochure development for programs and special events while working with Communications to promote aquatic programs.
Develops, implements, and oversees a variety of aquatics programs for the citizens of the parish.
Participates in and teaches water certification training and swimming lessons for all ages.
Assist the maintenance department with cleanliness, climate control, and chemistry and related maintenance, in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, policies, and guidelines for the operation of public swimming pools.
Represents the organization at various community and business meetings, promotes existing and new programs and /or policies.
Develops and maintains records of operational facilities usage; monitors and maintains inventories of pool equipment and supplies.
Working knowledge of operating a concessions stand, ordering and cooking.
Secondary Job Duties:
Assist the Recreation department with special events and community events with water and related programming throughout the year
Skills in program planning and development.
Budgeting, cost estimating and fiscal management principles and procedures.
Education Required: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year College or University. Preferred: Master's Degree from accredited four year College or University.
Area of Study (major) Required: General Studies, or a related field; experience in aquatics events, programming and/or facility management. Preferred: Recreation, Physical Education, or a closely related field.
Certification(s) Required: Certified Lifeguard, Certified Lifeguard Training Instructor; Water Safety Instructor Certification; LA Food & Safety Mgr. Certification; First Aid and CPR Instructor certification; Certified Pool Operator certification to be obtained within one year. Preferred: Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO),(CPRP) Certification through the National Recreation Park Association to be completed within a specific time frame.
License(s) Required: Valid LA driver's license Class E required; Class D preferred
Years Relevant Work Experience: Minimum three (3) years working in aquatic programming, training and facility management, concessions operations or related experience. Preferred: 5 or more years related experience.
