Job Description:
Under general direction from lead worker or supervision from food service manager or other supervisor, weighs & mixes ingredients for baked goods and bakes short breads, pastries and puddings.
Adheres to all OSHA and/or Ohio University required safety guidelines;
Weighs and mixes ingredients for baked goods and bakes basic baked goods according to production sheets and using standardized recipes, following departmental guidelines;
Decorates cakes and rolls;
Portions baked goods and wraps for delivery to dining areas and/or refrigerated storage;
Responsible for accurate assistance in staging all dining hall orders;
Cleans and sanitizes work area, utensils and equipment, reports accidents and malfunctioning equipment;
May oversee and mentor student employees;
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
6 mos. experience in operation of large-scale bakery equipment & baking techniques; or equivalent;
Skill in bakery equipment operation; preparation of standard large-scale bakery products;
Ability to understand system of procedures;
Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, and pictorial form;
Ability to work independently or with others;
Demonstrated willingness to work with diverse populations;
Demonstrate dexterity and skill in use of bakery tools & equipment;
Ability to read & write common vocabulary in sentence structure;
Ability to apply principles to solve practical problems;
Knowledge of all applicable OSHA and/or Ohio University safety guidelines and procedures;
Ability to lift 50 lbs.;
Exposed to hot ovens, extreme temperatures, and sharp utensils;
Ability to stand 8 hours/day;
Successful completion of a test may be required;
Established pattern of good work habits and performance with good interpersonal skills.
